“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:26 HCSB
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7 HCSB
When times get tough, we may want to give up. We may not see the benefits and think it’s just not worth the effort. These are times when we can keep moving only with the Lord’s help and guidance. This is when we must fully rely on Him. He is our strength.
We do not get stronger without moving. We grow our muscles by periodically stretching them and giving them time to recover. We plant seeds, water them, and periodically weed out the intruders to grow a garden.
In the same way, we must keep moving in small steps and try new things, with a willingness to work through the difficulties, to be ready to take on the bigger challenges when they come.
Today may be difficult. You may struggle to follow through on your plan. But do the next positive thing to move you in the right direction. The Lord will give you strength. Rely on Him. Take small steps in faith.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord,
We all struggle and want to give up. Things can seem impossible to us in the present. But You, Lord, know our future. You promise to stay with us and strengthen us through whatever we encounter. Help us to keep moving in small steps toward our goals.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
