Pray More, Worry Less

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

As my husband walked past a parked car, he noticed there was a locking bar on the steering wheel. However, on the back of the car was a sticker that read: “Pray More, Worry Less”.

We’re not sure if this was a type of vehicle that is statistically more likely to be stolen. But even so, how often do we hold on to our anxieties, even though we want to give them to the Lord? Do we start out by trying to solve our problems in our own power, before we connect with God and call on His strength?

We’re all prone to this at times. Do we not trust the Lord or His timing? Do we feel the need to be in control?

The Lord asks us to give everything to Him. Jesus said, “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30)

His shoulders are wide enough to carry us and our burdens. His love for us is truer and stronger than any other.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your love and provision in our lives. I confess that though I may give You my problems, I still try to work them out for myself. I long to rest in Your comfort, by casting my burdens on You, knowing that You will sustain me (Psalm 55:22). In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: What are you holding onto? How can you pray and release it to the Lord so you can worry less and trust in Him more?
