The Victory in Jesus

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”

1 Corinthians 15:57 HCSB

“No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us.”

Romans 8:37 HCSB

“For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. Now His commands are not a burden, because whatever has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.”

1 John 5:3-4 HCSB

This week, the United States of America is holding its next presidential election. Our country is divided as we choose who to vote for. Families and friends are unsure of whether to share their decisions with others because tensions are high. Many of us are unsure that either presidential candidate will follow through on what they have promised or provide our citizens with the help and guidance we need.

In this uncertain time, it’s important to remember what we can be certain about. Our God is still on the throne! Through every season He will remain the same. No election or other human decision can shift Him from His place. Our Lord reigns and His love for us remains steady and true.

Scripture reminds us in Psalm 46:10 to “Be still and know that I am God.” These words are both a promise and a command. Spend some time with the Lord in a quiet place where you can rest in His peace. Let’s release our anxious thoughts and replace them with reminders of His promises. He’s never failed us and He won’t start now.

When Jesus walked the earth, He faced turmoil and opposition. Yet He kept His eyes focused on His Father. Friends, the victory that carried Him through is the same victory we stand in today. Through His death and resurrection, we’ve been given the gift of hope that reaches beyond the here and now. Our victory is not dependent on any leader or government; it is rooted in the finished work of Christ. Philippians 4:7 speaks of a peace that “transcends all understanding”, and that peace is ours to hold onto even now.

Let’s remember that we’re part of God’s kingdom which cannot be shaken. Our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20), and our true King, Jesus, rules with righteousness and justice.

We can walk forward in confidence, knowing that no matter what happens in this presidential election, God in His sovereignty is carrying out His plan. We belong to Him. He has not called us to fear, but to faith, to trust in His provision and guidance, even when the future seems unclear.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for the assurance that You are still on the throne and that Your loving guidance transcends this world and all of the difficulties we encounter. Thank You for Your peace that transcends all understanding. Please help us to move forward with this presidential election, knowing that You are sovereign. You know all things and will continue to stay close to us in the days to come. May we strive to live in these trying times while continuing to love those around us as You have taught us to. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Spend some quiet time with the Lord sharing your concerns with Him. Reflect on His victories and thank Him for the eternal life that you’ve been given as a believer. Pray for guidance and protection for the days to come.
