“We have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do what we command.”
2 Thessalonians 3:4 HCSB
“So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.”
Hebrews 10:35 HCSB
“When all our enemies heard this, all the surrounding nations were intimidated and lost their confidence, for they realized that this task had been accomplished by our God.”
Nehemiah 6:16 HCSB
We all lack confidence at times. In this world that often points us toward self-reliance, and a “you’ve got this” attitude, we can find ourselves torn between relying on our own strength and admitting that we can’t do it all alone.
In these times, we must remember that the Lord is our strength and our ever present helper. Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom should I be afraid?” When our confidence is rooted in God, fear loses its grip, and we walk in the peace of His unshakeable presence.
Staying close to the Lord and asking Him for guidance every day for all of our needs and plans will give us the confidence to do what He has for us. He will remain with each of us, enabling us to accomplish what He has planned in His way and in His time.
We will be able to hear Him speak to our hearts, helping us to discern what we are being called to do. He will also help us discover what we are not called to do at this time. Even when we are equipped for a role, it might not be ours to fill. He may have something we’re better suited for coming our way.
Life is full of challenges and opportunities for us to navigate, but when we rely on the Lord and invite Him into our hearts daily, we will find that the confidence we have in Him will allow us to be confident to do what He has called us to do with His help.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for the confidence I have in You. When I feel weak, help me to lean into Your strength. Help me to remember that I don’t have to do everything on my own, because You’re walking with me. Teach me to rest in Your presence, trusting that You’re working all things for my good and Your glory. In Christ’s name, Amen.
