Commit to the Lord

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Proverbs 16:3 NIV

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.”

Psalm 37:4-6 HCSB

My word for 2025 is COMMIT.

I have committed to a year long membership at a local health center with a large gym and warm water pools. There are opportunities for a variety of group classes and individual activities. Specially trained staff are available to help us safely succeed. After recovering from my recent knee surgery, I want my body to be able to do whatever God calls me to do.

My husband and I have committed to paying closer attention to our finances so that we can become better stewards of the funds God has provided for us.

We are also committed to improving the organization in our home. We want to declutter and arrange our possessions so they are blessings instead of burdens. We want to share our home and abundance with others.

The Lord has given us this life and it is up to us to honor Him in all we do. Everything we have belongs to Him and was provided for us to use for His glory. When we call on the Lord in prayer, committing our energy, efforts, time, and plans to Him, we can ask for His discernment and guidance. We will walk closer to Him and see the world through His eyes. We will delight in Him and desire what He wants for us. We’ll notice His gentle nudges directing our steps toward what He has for us. We’ll seek opportunities to share God’s love and encouragement with those we meet.

Though it’s not easy to stay focused on the task at hand, Galatians 6:9 states, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap the harvest if we do not give up.” The Lord does not ask for our perfection. He loves us always and is pleased when we begin to move in the right direction.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for the life You have given each of us. We long to commit our lives to You and to share Your truth, love, and forgiveness with others. May we check in with You daily and desire whatever You have for us. In Christ’s name, Amen.
