“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.”
Psalm 14:2 KJV
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13 HCSB
“Looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2 NASB
While driving on the freeway, I noticed a truck in the next lane with the words “Look No More” as part of its company’s slogan. It seems to imply that when you choose to work with them, you’ll never need to choose another.
Once we’ve found God, we don’t have to keep looking. We can fix our eyes on our one true Father. We don’t need to wander and wonder looking for some missing piece in our soul.
As a teenager, I sang a solo at church of “My Father’s Eyes” (Amy Grant, 1979). The lyrics of this song have stayed in my heart and impacted my choices many times.
“She’s got her Father’s eyes…
Eyes that find the good in things
When good is not around
Eyes that find the source of help
When help just can’t be found
Eyes full of compassion
Seeing every pain
Knowing what you’re going through
And feeling it the same
Just like my Father’s eyes…”
When we have the Lord in our hearts and faithfully look toward Him, we will find what we need. And we’ll have plenty to share with others.
Life won’t always be easy and we’ll still make mistakes. Some of our questions will remain unanswered. But the Lord will remain by us to sustain us, enrich us, guide us, and provide for us.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your loving eyes that see us at all times. Please help us to look only to You for our guidance and protection. And help us to see others through Your eyes and to share Your loving help and compassion always. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: Where have you been looking? How can you focus more on the Lord and use your eyes to see where He wants you to go?
