“Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.”
James 1:2-3 NASB
We’ve all had our lives interrupted. Something unplanned happens that changes the course of our day, week, or even longer. We struggle to adjust and adapt to accommodate this new situation.
Earlier this week, I was drying my dishes, when a glass bowl slipped from my hand and broke against the counter. My hands caught it, and a sharp edge cut my thumb and palm, requiring seven stitches. Thankfully, there is no long-term damage.
However, my daily routine has been modified and minimized as I allow for rest and healing. No time in the pool or lifting weights for two weeks. I’m also learning to adjust what I carry and how I use my hand to avoid stretching the stitches.
I’m so thankful for the Lord’s protection and guidance in all situations. He is able to bring beauty from the difficulties, even when we can’t see it right away.
I was able to stay calm in the moment and gather what I needed to head to the urgent care with my husband. The following morning, we visited the grocery to pick up easier food items to prepare and the proper bandages for my wound care. We were able to adjust our schedules and cancel a few things to make this time less stressful.
When the interruptions come, let’s remember to hold fast to the Lord and let go of the stress. This time will pass and we will be better for it if we learn to travel through in faith with the endurance that comes from expecting and accepting these moments while relying on Him to bring us through.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for helping us through all of our days! Remind us of Your protection in all situations. Please help us to pause, breathe, and pray before we overreact to any interruptions. In Christ’s name, Amen.
