Every day we’re one day older. And if we’re following the Lord, hopefully we’re becoming a little wiser and more loving. We’re learning to live with more intention and intensity for the Lord, knowing we’re one day closer to meeting Him face to face.
All we truly have is this day, this moment. How will we make it count? It’s not always about doing big things, but even small things with love and the awareness of how special and precious each opportunity is.
Each day we can spend time in prayer and praise, using our gifts to bless others and encouraging them to move closer to the Lord. We don’t need to work all the time or accomplish everything. We just need to move a little closer, love a little more, and rest while connecting with Him. Hurrying won’t help, but waiting until tomorrow won’t work. We need to move forward every day. We must remember, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps” (Proverbs 16:9). Our Heavenly Father lovingly leads the way.
We can all do things in love–both the magnificent and the mundane; providing for people and guiding them toward heaven, completing daily tasks, or powerfully praying.
When we invest the time and talents God has given us, we can expect to hear, “well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23 ESV). Paul states that, “For now we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.” (I Corinthians 13:12 HCSB)
So today when troubles try to take you down, or tasks at hand seem too stressful, remember that at this day’s end, you’re one day closer to meeting Him.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for this day. Thank You for lovingly guiding us through each day and helping us with everything we encounter. Please help us to live our time on earth with our hearts focused toward You. May our hearts be joyful knowing we’ll be with You at Your appointed time. In Christ’s name, Amen.
