Is God Real?

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands.”

Psalm 19:1 HCSB

“For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse.”

Romans 1:20 HCSB

Has anyone asked you if God is real? Are there people in your life who doubt His existence or outright deny Him?

It can be difficult for those of us who believe in the Lord to understand how others can be confused or even refuse to accept Him.

We may be fear addressing this topic, wondering if we’ll say the wrong thing. But we need to remember to lead with love, just as the Lord has loved us. We can’t bully someone into believing. Instead, we can make them aware of the beauty of knowing Him and the healing found in His saving grace.

We can begin by living with integrity. Jesus told His disciples, “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14a) Our life choices and actions are examples to those around us. Showing love, compassion, and mercy makes the Lord’s light shine bright in a world of darkness, where many judge and compare, with their focus on themselves.

As we engage loved ones and acquaintances in conversation, we’ll get to know more about their current hobbies and interests. We’ll better understand their special gifts and values.

As we listen to them, we can also share a little about ourselves, which will naturally allow us to mention our stories and our loving Lord. We don’t need to preach a sermon, but simply share the hope we’ve found in Him. The Apostle Peter encouraged believers to, “… honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” (1 Peter 3:15)

We are called to, “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples.” (Psalm 96:3) We start with prayer, asking the Lord to soften their hearts toward Him.

It often takes multiple times of hearing about God for most people to fully believe in Him. We may not know how far along they are on their journeys of understanding, but we can gently help to move them forward.

Let’s continue to reach out in prayer and faith, shine His light, and lead others closer to our loving Heavenly Father!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for inviting each of us to have a personal relationship with You. Thank You for the ability to share the light of Jesus with others in this world. Please give us eyes to see the people who need You, the courage to speak up, and the willingness to be open, honest, and loving as we share our faith and trust in You. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Who needs to know the Lord’s love? Pray for them by name and ask for His guidance on how you can best bless and encourage them this week.
