“Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.”
Romans 12:12 HCSB
“You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. You rejoice in this, though now for a short time you have had to struggle in various trials”
1 Peter 1:5-6 HCSB
It’s Thanksgiving week in the United States. Many people are traveling to see family and friends. Some will enjoy a quieter time. But for others, this will be the beginning of a holiday season full of mixed emotions. There may be loss, loneliness, or struggles with health, finances, or other issues, that keep them from having a grateful heart.
When times are difficult, it can be hard to see the positives. Our moods and energy run low and our minds are too cluttered to notice those things that are going okay. But we can always be grateful for God.
Grateful For God
Lord, we are grateful for the love You give each day.
We know that You are able to guide us on our way.
Though things are hard and the struggles are real,
We know You’ll provide the way for us to heal.
You care and are aware of everything we face.
And with Your help, we’ll make it through,
as we rely upon Your grace.
You bottle our tears and hold us near.
Your love is true and dear.
Help us Lord, to seek Your light
every day and through the night.
We’ll find both peace and rest,
when You free our minds from stress.
Lord, everything we have belongs to You.
Thank You for sharing and lovingly caring
and always staying true.
Please help us to listen close for Your voice
and to call out to You with our needs.
Thank You that Your love is not
dependent on our deeds.
When times are tough,
it’s hard enough to make it through our day,
But with You by our side,
we’ll make it, Lord, we pray.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for understanding us and loving us always. Please help us to be grateful for Your greatness even when we struggle to find gratitude in our troubles. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: Share your heart with the Lord. Where can you find gratefulness for God?
