“Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.”
1 Peter 1:3-4 HCSB
Every new year, millions of people make resolutions to change their lives. This may mean lots of planning or simply a “someday I’ll try that” idea. Yet many give up by “Quitter’s Day”, the second Friday of each January.
What if this year you could make a life change that would stick, no matter how many times you mess up other things? How would it feel to be certain that the work’s been completed and the rewards will not be taken from you?
If you don’t yet know Jesus as your Savior, would you take this step of faith – by believing it’s through His life, death, and resurrection that your sins are forgiven and that you’ll spend eternity with our Heavenly Father and His only Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ?
If you’re not sure, learn more by reading the Gospel of John or book of Acts, talking to a Christian, or watching The Case For Christ. When you’re ready, pray something like this:
Dear Lord, I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus is Your one and only Son and that the only way to heaven is through His saving power. I believe He died for my sins and rose again. Thank You for my salvation. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Once our hearts belong to Jesus, we can never lose our salvation. However, we can let life get in the way, affecting our walk with Him. Yet we can reconnect at any time. God promises to never leave us. We can call out to Him and renew our relationship. Let’s recommit our lives to the Lord!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17a).
