“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.”
I Chronicles 16:8
“They are also to stand every morning to give thanks and praise the Lord, and likewise in the evening.”
I Chronicles 23:30
“Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks and praise Your glorious name.”
I Chronicles 29:13
On the first day of in-school learning this year, one of my students gave me two sunflowers that she and her mom hand picked at a sunflower farm. What a special blessing!
Being thankful in all things, big and small, is an important part of our relationship with the Lord. Everything we have and are capable of becoming is from Him.
My mom has a framed handwritten prayer written by my grandma from a Thanksgiving long ago:
Dear Father,
Give us the grace each day to give Thee thanks for everything, and to ask for peace and comfort for all the sad and lonely ones. We now ask Thy blessing on this food and on those who share it. Use us in Thy service.
In Jesus’ name and for His sake. Amen.
Our God is the provider of peace and comfort. He loves us more than anyone else ever could. He desires a deep connection with us, and giving thanks to Him opens our hearts to be receptive to the needs of others as well. Giving the Lord gratitude will help strengthen our relationships and improve our perspectives, giving us hope for each day.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for all of the gifts you have lovingly provided for us. Please help us to reach out and share our bounty with others.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: Spend some time creating a gratitude list. Allow yourself time to reflect on all the blessings you have been given.
Thank you!
