“For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4: 17-18
“Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.”
John 14:1-3
I am so thankful to know that I will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord. This is His promise to all who believe in Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection for our sins. Having this knowledge in my heart makes it easier for me to enjoy life’s blessings and weather the trials that come. This is a poem I wrote to help me remember His promises:
Fresh flowers picked from a field.
Sunshine in the morning.
Walking on a cobble path unaware,
and finding a beautiful stream hidden there.
The company of loved ones
with no need to talk.
The awe and the wonder of all
God has brought.
Knowing the Lord is looking over us.
He knows us and loves us.
To Him we’re not lost.
Eternity coming–
Forever we’ll spend
in Heaven together with the GREAT I AM.
Wherever you go,
Whatever you do,
The Lord will be near,
Oh, how much He loves you.
Through trials and troubles,
His help will abound.
The answers we need
with His help will be found.
Our eyes on the prize
to win this life’s race.
We go as we are,
at our own pace.
Helping each other
as we travel through life,
with our hands and our prayers,
together unite.
To reach for the glory
that is yet to come.
When we’ll stand before Jesus
in our forever home.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your promise of our eternal home in Heaven with You. Thank You for all that You have provided for us in this life. Please help us to live life as fully as possible with the joy that we have our salvation and rest with You. Please help us to share that hope with others.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: Take a few minutes to think about Heaven. What do you imagine it will be like? Who will you see? How will you spend your time? It will be more amazing than anything we can hope or imagine! What can you do today to share some of that hope and joy with someone else?
