“Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.”
1 John 3:18
“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
Romans 12:10 (ESV)
Everyone can use a little lift. Anyone can give a gift…
We hear of the big donations—$100 to each customer at the grocery, a car donated to a server or coworker. Others pay for the person behind them in the drive thru or sitting at the next table in a restaurant. These are wonderful gifts!
But acts of kindness can be as simple as returning an abandoned cart at the grocery store or holding the door open for the next person coming through.
We can all share a kind word with someone as we pass by, pick up a piece of trash, or do a small task without being asked.
Ask a friend who can’t get out as easily if they need something picked up from a store. Shovel an extra driveway.
Opportunities to help are all around us daily. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see those things that you can do to help others around you. God may prompt you to send a text, call, or give a comment to someone who is going through a difficult time. He may help you to see items that can be donated to someone in need.
Gifts don’t always come wrapped with a bow. We can give gifts of the heart and acts of service.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for all that You have given me. Please open my eyes to see ways that I can make a difference by showing kindness to others. Help me to use my actions to bless those around me. Lord, I know that my actions can show love and bring people closer to You.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: Make a list of simple things that you can do to show kindness to others. Add to this list throughout the week.
