Easter

“But the angel told the women, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.'”

Matthew 28:5-6

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

What an amazing day! Yet, how confusing it must have been when, three days after Jesus died on the cross and was laid to rest in the tomb, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome found that the stone was rolled away and Jesus was gone! They had watched Him hang on the cross and followed Him to His burial place. How could He be missing? Only the wrappings remained.

The women were greeted by the angel, who explained that Jesus had risen, and soon after they were greeted by Jesus Himself! Their sadness and confusion quickly turned to joy and an excitement to tell others this great news!

How many saw Jesus, but didn’t believe? Would we have believed if we had been there? The truth is, we have the proof. We have the accounts of those who were there in the Bible. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we have the promise of eternal life with Him in heaven. Let’s live our lives as believers, with hope and gratitude, and share the joy of this great news with all who will listen!

PRAYER:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for sending Jesus to earth as a sacrifice for Your people. Thank You for providing a way to heaven through His life, death, and resurrection. Help us to celebrate this truth each day.
In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Read Matthew 28: 1-20. With whom can you share the hope and great news?
