“…Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
John 16:32b-33 (HCSB)
In this life we will have trouble. We are not promised an easy time. There is death, disease, crime, and destruction in the world. Others may harm us. But the Lord will stay near. He will protect us from many adversities and help us through those we encounter. “Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For it is the Lord your God who goes with you; He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 3:16 HCSB).
We will struggle and strain, cry and complain, but the Lord will listen and lovingly guide us through it all. His love is deeper than any other.
Each day, find some positive ways to care for yourself, such as:
-Eat your meal on a beautiful plate while sitting down and savoring each bite.
-Read an inspirational book.
-Set up a visit or phone call with a special friend.
-Buy yourself some fresh flowers.
-Go for a walk or drive.
-Take a nap.
-Find someone who could use your help or encouragement.
You can also choose to do something creative that you love. We’ve all been given special gifts; skills or activities that we do exceptionally well, which are usually accompanied with a desire placed in our hearts.
Even while we ask the Lord and others for help, we are called to be courageous and move forward in the direction we believe is best. We can be proactive, positive, and prepared. We can do our research and gather our needed supplies. We can talk with others who have gone through similar experiences. Keeping up with some of our regular activities, as well as spending time with family and friends, can help us move through the difficult times in a positive way.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for your promise never to leave us. Thank You for protecting us and helping us through the difficult times in our lives. Please give us the courage and strength we need to rely on You for help and also do our part in working through the problems we encounter. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: What difficulties are you going through? Make a list of positive ways you can take good care for yourself. Choose at least one you will do today.
