Living Life with Gratitude

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.
Therefore my heart rejoices,
and I praise Him with my song.”

Psalm 28:7 HCSB

Every day will have some struggles and strife, but there are still blessings to be found.

Whether it’s the moments with friends and family, a walk in nature, or the celebration of a special occasion, we can find joys in our days. We can share simple gratitudes with others through genuine words of affirmation and encouragement.

We can also spend time remembering past events and the positive feelings they evoke.

Living life with gratitude doesn’t eliminate the hard times. But it does give us perspective and a hope that things will not always be the same.

Notice those things that call on your senses…

The scent of a candle, fresh flowers, or something fresh out of the oven.
The sight of a familiar face, a friendly smile, or the evening sunset.
The touch of a soft blanket, the fur on an animal, or the squeeze of a friend’s hand.
The sound of laughter, a church bell, or birds singing in the trees.
The taste of fresh brewed coffee, peppermint gum, or your favorite dessert.

Days don’t have to be great for us to be grateful. There will be days where being in bed and breathing top our lists. Even then, we are held and loved by our Father above. He’s available for the good and the bad, the highs and the lows. He longs to be beside you no matter what life brings.

Take time to rest when struggles surround. Remember that gratitudes still can be found.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for this life. Thank you for our hope and the promise that you will remain with us forever. Lord, help us to find the simple gratitudes even on the toughest days. Please hang on to us when we start to turn away. In Christ’s name, Amen.
