Walking Right Beside Me

“I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.”

Leviticus 26:12 HCSB

“House of Jacob, come and let us walk in the Lord’s light.”

Isaiah 2:5 HCSB

When we’re buried in the mire of life and everything seems impossible, let’s move closer to the Lord. He wants to be a part of our everyday lives. But sometimes, we’re moving so fast that it doesn’t seem like we have time to check in, to say, “Hi Lord, How’s Your day going?”

We can feel lonely, even when surrounded by others. Our needs often get put aside to care for those who depend on us. We have meals to make, work to do. The list can seem never-ending.

In these times, we can feel separated from God in our hearts. This happens even though we have the belief and wisdom that God is with us and will never leave us. We can pray for His help, and still not see the ways He is close to us each day.

By looking back through our old journals, life stories, and other important experiences from our past, we can find those moments where we felt close to the Lord. We can reengage our hearts and more clearly see Him in our current days.

This short song I wrote helps me to remember He’s always near:

Walking Right Beside Me

If you ask me where I’m going,
Then I’ll tell you where I’ve been.
I’ve been walking lonely miles,
just searching for a friend.

And in the end I found Him,
Right where He’d always been —
Walking right beside me
and reaching for my hand.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for
staying with us. We need You and long for Your presence and guidance each day. Help us to deepen our connection with You so that we may see just how close you are.
In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Take some time to review those past moments where you could sense the Lord’s closeness. Write a few here.
