Fun Together

“Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Deuteronomy 6:7

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

Philippians 4:4

“but honor the Messiah as Lord in Your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”

1 Peter 3:15

My church enjoys hosting an annual Family Fun Fest. It’s a way to invite families to the church for a few hours of inflatables, games, and snacks, and an opportunity to meet other members of the community and church family.

When we come together for a fun activity, we can forget our difficulties for a time and find common ground. Recreation is a way to “re-create”; to rest, refuel, and have some fun. This unrushed time together allows us to share our stories and get to know each other better.

These fun opportunities allow us to talk more openly about God and our relationship with Him. In this relaxed, comfortable space, others can hear our words and see how the Lord has impacted our lives. We can tell them about Jesus, His death and resurrection, and what that means for our eternity.

We can also talk about the stories and lessons we have learned from the Bible. When others see the joy in our lives, they will know that it comes from those core beliefs.

Whether it’s doing an old favorite activity, or trying something new, whatever you do will be rewarding when you’re spending time having fun with others.

Prayer: Dear Lord,
Thank You for the opportunities we have to share fun experiences with others! Help us to use these times to encourage others, build relationships, and share our love for You.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
