“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
1 Chronicles 16:34
His faithful love endures forever.”
“Rejoice always!
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Pray constantly.
Give thanks in everything,
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
This year’s Thanksgiving gatherings will again be different than in past years. Instead of big get-togethers, the gatherings will be much smaller and the guests more spaced. It won’t always be this way, but for now, we have to make the best of it. For those we are unable to see at this time, we can send cards, texts, or share a group video call.
There is still much to be thankful for. Our lives, our families, our country, our world. We have the memories of the past and the hope of the future. Reach out to others who could use a loving reminder this holiday season and show them you care. Give them a reason to believe and add a little joy to their days. Tell them why you are thankful for them. We can all use the reminders this year.
There are so many everyday things that can go unnoticed. Like the person who holds the door open for us, or the unexpected kind word from a stranger… The sun shining through the colored leaves… The crisp autumn air and the ability to breathe… Take some extra time this week to write a gratitude list and share that list with God and others that you love.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for another Thanksgiving week. Thank You for bringing us through the difficulties so far this year. We are resting in Your faithful love which endures forever! We will take time to notice the blessings You are sending our way. Please help us to share those blessings with others.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: Spend some time writing a gratitude list. Take time to thank the Lord for His blessings. How can you reach out to others?
