“We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 HCSB
My family’s word for this year is transformation.
Romans 12:2 states, “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” We are to keep our minds and hearts fixed on the Lord, asking Him for guidance for all those things that are happening in our lives and how we can best follow His plan.
“Transformation” reminds me of God’s plan for the butterflies, how they start their lives as caterpillars, spin a chrysalis, and emerge as beautiful flying creatures!
There are many milestones and changes happening for us this year…
We will be settling estates and selling my husband’s childhood home. We hope to be able to see how the home is transformed by the future owners.
We’ll focus on making the needed updates to our house that we’ve put off for some time and begin the process of releasing extra possessions to make downsizing an option.
Our younger son is heading to college this fall, and whether he chooses to live at home or on campus, we’ll be nearing the empty nest stage.
My son and I recently started working with a personal trainer twice a week. He says, “I can’t wait to become what we will be!” We are hoping to transform our bodies as well as our lives and surroundings.
My husband and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, which is causing us to reflect on what we have already done and how we want to transform as we continue in our married life. We long to have more dates and dreaming sessions to bring us closer together and to help us focus on what matters most to us.
No matter what’s going on in our lives, if we listen to the Lord and follow His plans for our lives He will transform us to be who He has created us to be!
PRAYER: Dear Lord,
Thank You for helping us to transform throughout our journey. Please help us to seek You in all areas and to strive to give You first place in our lives. We long to be who You created us to be!
In Christ’s name, Amen.
