“My lips will shout for joy
Psalm 71:23 HCSB
when I sing praise to You
because You have redeemed me.”
“Sing to Yahweh, for He has done glorious things.
Isaiah 12:5 HCSB
Let this be known throughout the earth.”
Today I got to do two of my favorite things: 1. Hang out in a big red barn, and 2. Sing hymns of praise with fellow church members!
I’m not sure why red barns have always been so special to me…Red was my favorite color growing up. And some of my family have red barns on their property. They are special places full of space, animals, and opportunities for exploration.
Growing up Methodist, we sang from hymnals every Sunday. Singing was always a favorite part of church! We’d stand and join our voices with a common goal of worshiping the Lord. Those words helped me to further understand God’s love for us.
Today, a group of us met in a beautiful red barn with hymnals in hand. We called out the numbers to our favorite songs and for two full glorious hours, I could belt out the notes to the wonderful songs, remember His promises of love for me, revisit fond memories of growing up, and create new bonds with my son and others from my church congregation! I’m already looking forward to next month’s gathering!
PRAYER: Dear Lord,
Thank You for the opportunities You have given us to join with others in worshiping You. We love You and long to praise You, by spending time in Your Word and giving back to You a small part of what You have given us. Please help us to continue to find ways to join our voices together to praise Your Holy Name.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
