Clear Signal

“We must, therefore, pay even more attention to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.”

Hebrews 2:1 HCSB

“Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Revelation 3:22 HCSB

Recently, I took a driving trip alone to my son’s home. On the way, I turned on the radio. We have several radio stations saved for this trip, since we travel there often.

But this time, when I reached the end of my local station’s range, I clicked the button for the next station in memory and the sound was staticky! There was a mix of country, rock, classical, and buzzing noises at all different volumes. Stations were randomly cutting in and out and I couldn’t understand the words. It was overwhelming and confusing, so I turned the radio off.

I started thinking about the Lord and how staticky it might sound if everyone started praying every time they got in their vehicle. How wonderful it is to know that our prayers are crystal clear in His ears. 1 John 5:14 (HCSB) says, “Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” Even more comforting is knowing that He understands exactly what we need even before we ask!

The rest of my drive I spent in silence, listening for the Lord. I wanted my ears and heart to be focused on Him. I didn’t ask for anything. I just drove the familiar path feeling surrounded by His presence.

Before my return trip, I spent some time scanning the radio for a clear signal. I found a new-to-me Christian radio station with a focus on Hope! I added it to the car’s memory for future trips.

The most amazing part was that the radio station stayed crystal clear ALL THE WAY TO MY HOUSE! After that hour and a half drive, I pulled into my garage relaxed and energized from spending my time singing and praising Him!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for listening to us all the time! Help us to reach to You in prayer and praise often. You have provided a direct path for us to commune with You. Help us to lessen the distractions and noises in our lives so that we can more clearly hear You.
In Christ’s name, Amen.
