When We’re Not Sure

“The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord,
their refuge in a time of distress.
The Lord helps and delivers them;
He will deliver them from the wicked and will save them
because they take refuge in Him.”

Psalms 37:39-40 HCSB

“Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10 HCSB

Here’s a poem for those times when we’re doubting…

Some days we know exactly what to do,
While other times we sit and stare,
Or walk in circles in despair.

The problem may be small,
Or seem insurmountable.
Should we give or take away?
How will we get through another day?
We may cry as we pray.

These days come to all of us,
Of this we can be sure.
But surer still we can be,
that God, who created you and me,
Will listen and help us on our way.

Step by step, with breaks in between,
We can move forward through uncertainty.
He will lovingly hold our hand,
and patiently wait as we struggle to stand.

There’s nothing that the Lord won’t see us through.
Our Lord loves us and forever remains true.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your promise of love and protection over us. We pray as David did in Psalm 23:6 (ESV), “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Share your concerns with the Lord. Write a few verses of assurance to encourage you in the days to come.
