Spring Forward

“Light is sweet, and it is pleasing for the eyes to see the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 11:7 HCSB

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield.
The Lord gives grace and glory;
He does not withhold the good
from those who live with integrity.”

Psalm 84:11 HCSB

This weekend, we set our clocks ahead one hour. Daylight Saving Time begins!

We seem to jump forward into spring before we reach the official calendar date.

It’s marvelous to have daylight extend into the evening, warming our faces and our hearts. Hopefulness returns as we spot flowers and trees beginning to bloom.

As those of us who hibernate in the colder months step outside into the light, our energy is renewed.

We can also spring forward in our lives. There are times when winter lingers, when we’re hunkered down inside. Health issues, loss, or stress may keep us in this slower pace.

When the time is right, we will step out into the spring and move forward again, renewed by the Light of our Lord.

Don’t lose hope. Your spring will come!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for Your presence in all the seasons of our lives. We know that no matter what we are going through, You will protect us and guide us. There will come a day when “The moonlight will be as bright as the sunlight, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter—like the light of seven days—on the day that the Lord bandages His people’s injuries and heals the wounds He inflicted.” (Isaiah 30:26 HCSB) Until then, we will continue to hope in this promise and believe in Your Word. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: What season are you in right now? Ask the Lord for His help as you look forward to a coming spring.
