Sowing Seeds

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”

Luke 8:11 ESV

“As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.”

Luke 8:15 ESV

Lord, You know which way to go.
You know just what we need.
We long to follow you daily,
on life’s path, to plant the seeds.

At times we get confused,
or live in overwhelm.
But even then we can rely
on Your firm guiding plan.

When we sit in silence,
or even when we stray,
may Your gentle voice
turn us back Your way.

Help us water and tend to
the simple plants that grow.
Let us pull away the weeds,
leaving only good to grow.

For You, Dear Lord, are our Father,
our Ever-Loving Guide.
May we always in that love abide.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for supplying us with what we need. May we live to honor You and share Your love. We live with the promise that, “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Spend some time in the Gospels reading the Parable of the Sower. It is found in Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15. Write any new insights you see.
