Not Ready

“Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans.”

Psalm 37:7 HCSB

“He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also put eternity in their hearts, but man cannot discover the work God has done from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiates 3:11 HCSB

I stopped at the front desk after my 8+ hours of driving to see if my room was ready yet. The receptionist said it looked like they were working on it and asked me to return in twenty minutes. I spent some time out in my car organizing my belongings so they’d be easy to carry in.

When I checked back at the suggested time, they were just getting started on cleaning it. I decided to place the few items I was carrying back in my vehicle and walk around while I waited.

This waiting reminded me of the many times I try to push ahead and want everything done in my time.

How often do we think we’re ready before God does? We want our lives to move forward, our job title to go higher, and our reach to grow larger than we’re ready for.

We need to wait patiently for God’s timing. We can take steps to prepare and get things ready for the move. But waiting for the right time will create a better experience.

I spent my time sitting on the bay shore in the warm sunshine with the breeze blowing through my hair. Sailboats, birds, lapping water, and plenty of time for gratitude and prayer!

Let’s learn to enjoy those times of waiting for things to be ready. It will make the journey so much sweeter when that moment finally arrives!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your timing. You know what is best for me and You promise to always be with me. Please help me to prepare for my future while enjoying each moment You give me. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Where have you found yourself waiting? Ask the Lord for His guidance.
