“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a difficult time.”
Proverbs 17:17 HCSB
“Let brotherly love continue.”
Hebrews 13:1 HCSB
My younger son is moving in with his older brother this summer for a computer programming internship.
This is exactly who I’d hoped they would become as they grew up…Brothers and Best Buds. Though they have lived apart for years, they have spent time keeping in touch and sharing their lives and quality time with one another.
This summer will give them an opportunity to see each other daily and to participate in a variety of activities together. There will be lots of chess, learning Greek, fixing meals, and time spent together outside and on adventures.
God has created brotherhood as a way of connecting and encouraging the men of the world. This is not just for those who belong to the same family, but also those who become friends and comrades along the way.
God has created us to live in unity with others and to do life together. Mark 3:35 HCSB states,“Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.” Let’s strive to live in this unity and to support others as they build life-giving connections.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for the boys and men in our lives. Thank You for the brotherhood they have created. Please help us to encourage the loving connections. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133:1 ESV) In Christ’s name, Amen.
