“Be gracious to me, God,
Psalm 51:1-2 HCSB
according to Your faithful love;
according to Your abundant compassion,
blot out my rebellion.
Wash away my guilt
and cleanse me from my sin.”
“My mouth will declare Yahweh’s praise;
Psalm 145:21 HCSB
let every living thing
praise His holy name forever and ever.”
David was led to write many of the Psalms in the Bible. They represent the ups and downs of life and our need to remain close to the Lord through prayer and praise.
He shared everything with God, from his depths of despair, to his heart for the hurting, and even his deepest needs with the Lord.
He praised God in the good times and spoke of His faithfulness always. David remained close to the Lord and relied on His promises.
Many of his Psalms were prayers; for living, for trusting, for singing, for loving, for life. He believed in the Lord and relied on Him at all times. His heart was connected to his Heavenly Father.
Whether our prayers come out like a poem or we struggle to find the right words, He is sure to listen and lovingly respond. It may be through a sense of peace, a flip flop in our heart, or a word that comes to mind.
The more we open up to Him, the easier it is to sense His presence and response.
We need Him every day in every way, and He is waiting to walk us through, come what may.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are an awesome God, full of love and forgiveness. Thank You for being with us in the highs and lows of this life. We are never out of Your reach. May we share our hearts with You and strive to do Your will. In Christ’s name, Amen.
