Begin Again

“Do not remember the past events, pay no attention to things of old. Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 HCSB

‘”For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”‘

Jeremiah 29:11 HCSB

Beginning again, starting over, making changes… How exciting and frightening it can be! We are all creatures of comfort and enjoy the familiar. But there are times in our lives when beginning again is the best option, or the only option. It doesn’t have to be your whole life; maybe it’s only one area.

We all have opportunities to adjust our lives to make them more meaningful for ourselves and those we love. Sometimes we plan for them, and other times they are thrust upon us.

The shock and unfamiliarity of the path we are about to undertake can make it difficult to move forward. Whether it’s a move across the country, a different job, or starting a new habit, we can do it, one step at a time, one choice at a time.

The Lord promises to be with us and continues to bring a new sunrise each morning. He cares for us and will support us through all of our days. It’s not too late to begin again, to make a dream a reality, to aim for a better tomorrow!

PRAYER: Dear Lord,
Thank You for new beginnings. Thank You for the opportunities to make changes that will benefit our lives and our missions for You. Please keep us tuned in to You so that we can follow through in the new direction You have for us to go.
In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Reflect on a time when you began again. What was the outcome? Are you being asked to try something new?
