“Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; I wait for You all day long.”
Psalm 25:5 HCSB
“‘God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.'”
John 4:24 HCSB
We all go through trying times in our lives where we become unsure of who we are and where we are headed. In these moments, our feelings may become clouded in disappointment or shame. We may become depressed and hopeless. Our memories, health, and life situations can change how we feel.
Though it is important to honor our emotions, to share with those close to us or a trusted counselor, it is important to remember that feelings are temporary and are often not grounded in truth.
Truth comes from the Bible. Psalm 33:4 says, “For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is trustworthy.” Take some time to review what God says about you: You are wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). You are adopted by Him (Ephesians 1:5). You are not alone (Matthew 28:20). The Lord will never leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Those who believe in the Lord are forgiven and are covered in grace (Acts 15:11).
When you are feeling lost and confused, look to the Truth that you find in our Guide. God is the Truth. No matter what we are going through, God’s Truth is steady and true.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Thank You for being the Truth and for sharing Your Word through the Bible as a guide for what is true in this life and in Heaven. Thank You for accepting our feelings without shaming us. Thank You for your constant love and grace that surrounds us and lifts us up even in the tough times. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: What Bible verses offer you truth and hope during the difficult and emotional times in your life? Write them here. Choose one to commit to memory this week. Take some time to write your feelings and then search for passages of Scripture that show God’s truth in your current situation.
