“Listen to counsel and receive instruction so that you may be wise later in life. Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the Lord’s decree will prevail.”

Proverbs 19:20-21 HCSB

“And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so that you may approve the things that are superior and may be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.”

Philippians 1:9-11 HCSB

My younger son has graduated from high school and today we are celebrating with a party for him and two of his best friends! The advice has been given and he is ready to launch, though we hope we’ll still have plenty of time to spend with him in the future. Just a quick note to him, and a long prayer to the Lord!

Dear Son,
Congratulations on your graduation! The memories of our special times flood our hearts as we review the treasured photos taken throughout our years together! We are so proud of the young adult you have become! You are becoming more independent. Your personality and skills are growing and we know you will do great things in your life. We are so thankful for the opportunity to watch you grow up! Please know that we will always love you. Remember that God loves you even more!
Love, Mom and Dad

PRAYER: Dear Lord,
Thank You for the years of raising our children. Thank You for Your love and guidance which helped us to move our children forward and prepare them for life in the bigger world. Please stay close to these graduates and lead them to the places You would have them go. Help them to seek You above all else and to follow Your teachings. Show them ways to to lead others along life’s path. Give them Your presence in their lives so they don’t have to feel alone. And please remind them to call home! Their loved ones need the connection!
In Christ’s name, Amen.

Journal: Take some time to look through your family photos. Write a special prayer asking the Lord to continue to guide your children no matter how grown up they have become!
