Living on Purpose

“For I know the plans I have for you’—this is the Lord’s declaration—’plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11 HCSB

“Mankind, He has told you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8 HCSB

“The Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.'”

Luke 10:41-42 HCSB

God has made us each unique. He has plans for us and has given us special skills and purpose.

When we get stuck in the everyday tasks or life’s challenges, we can forget our value.

Like Mary and Martha, sometimes we’re working and preparing, while other times we’re quietly listening and interacting with those around us. Both are valuable, but we need to determine what is most important in each situation.

When we lose sight of our purpose, we can ask our Father for guidance in prayer. Let’s read Scriptures and review our special gifts and those areas where our hearts are particularly tender. Let’s look around us for people and situations where we can make an impact.

God has created us to be in communion with Him. We honor Him with our actions as we live in His love. At times, we’re called to do big things. Other times we do small things. But all these are valuable to the Lord.

By staying close to the Lord, with our eyes and hearts open to the world around us, we can find our purpose for each day.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for each day I’ve been given. Please help me to look for possibilities to share Your love with the world around me. In Christ’s name, Amen.
