Trust in the Tough Times

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 HCSB

“The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'”

Psalm 91:1-2 HCSB

Recent tornadoes went through our city and in another area about an hour to our north. Houses were damaged or destroyed. People were injured and several lost their lives. The community rallied around those in need, offering comfort, necessities, and helping hands.

We all have tough times in our lives. No matter what the difficulty is, we can trust the Lord to help guide us through. We can call on His name and reach out to fellow believers for help. We can remember the Bible verses we have learned and the past difficulties He has helped us through.

The Lord has the power to calm the storms, just as He did in Mark 4:39 when “He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Silence! Be still!’ The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” But even if He allows the storm to rage on, He will remain with us.

When winds swirl and our lives are rearranged, we can stay focused on the One Who is strong and never changing. He remains constant throughout all of our difficulties and will guide us through whatever comes our way. And when our time comes, He’ll lead us to our eternal home.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your presence in our lives at all times, and especially when things are difficult. We need You and we hold onto Your promise in Psalm 91:15: “When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor.”

Journal: When have you been in the storms of life? How has the Lord helped you through? In what areas do you need to rely on Him?
