“When I am filled with cares,
Psalm 94:19 HCSB
Your comfort brings me joy.”
“Can any of you add a cubit to his height by worrying?”
Luke 12:25 HCSB
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7 HCSB
When I’m extremely anxious, it can feel like my nerves are on the outside of my body, fully exposed for all to see! Life stressors, big changes, and an overactive imagination can make things feel impossible to manage.
Yet, we were not called to manage life alone. The Lord is with us and longs for us to confide in Him and rest in His peace.
Major life events occur that are out of our control and will naturally make us anxious. In those moments we can use that energy to take action in difficult situations that require immediate attention.
But in the everyday moments, we need to choose healthy habits of self-care which will help us lessen our responses to life’s minor annoyances and interruptions.
Here are some basic ways to get started:
Aim for at least seven hours of quality sleep each night.
Eat a balanced diet, primarily focused on God-made foods over processed products.
Take a walk in nature.
Share your stressors with the Lord in prayer and listen for His reply.
Sit quietly, taking deep breaths.
Focus your mind on a favorite Bible verse, song lyrics, or other positive content.
Spend time with friends and loved ones.
Ask for help.
Let something go.
When we care for our bodies, minds, and spirits, staying connected to the Lord, we will be more able to experience life without being overwhelmed.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, in this world, we can be anxious. Problems arise and stressors cause us to doubt and worry. Thank You for Your presence in our lives. Please help us to remember Your words from John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.” May we learn to rest in Your peace. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Journal: What are you anxious about? How will you trust in the Lord and calm your anxiety?
Thank you, Amanda! Yes, everything we do can make a difference for others when we do it for the Lord!😍
Prayers for a blessed day!❤️🙏🏻
